like this photo most, from the lighting to its texture and its detailing … n without editing! If only every picture comes out this way, heh.
There is a City in East Malaysia, a new one, it was called “the old town”. only since 2005 they called themselves a city – Miri Resort City.
Believe it or not, we weren’t even fit into what was required to become a city. These were all merely Political Plots, a stronghold camp for the Barisan National Team. Nvm about that, i’ll talk about it some other day, or if anyone whom are interested, we can chat over it during tea.
Again, I’m not being supportive towards the Pakatan either, we’ll see who does better. The current Government favors only the Super Rich. If it isn’t Oil that present, You wont even be seeing our vast Middle Class people that made up the large proportion of the pie in the City. Many of the people would have migrated to the west and well …
Real Estate Price has been skyrocket ever since the 2000. Clearly after the city status in 2005. Miri is pretty much an expensive place to live in today. Of course, part of it due to the vast Brunei Malaysian Workers’ direct investment after the 1997-Prince-Jeffery-Incident and the 1998 Asian Currency Meltdown.
The Inflation in this Stupid little city i believed has been more than our GDP growth a year, let say, 5% (if not 3%) on average. Hah, this is a very real! Let’s take a look at a simple scenario :)
“Kolok Noodle”, one of the famous or the most eaten food all around here costs only MYR 1.50 per bowl in 2000. Soon after, around 2003, it becomes 1.70. and hell know when it turned MYR 2 and since last year, it’s MYR 2.50. My friends who did their Internship here complained about the prices, and i answered, “okay …” coz when i was Penang, a plate of “Char Noodle” cost as low MYR 2.50 per plate, Beat that; and do i need to tell you where is Penang? FYI, “Char any Noodle” here would cost you MYR 4 to MYR 5.
The math? from 1.50 to 2.50 in 10 years, that’s as much as 66.67%!
Okay, we shall skip that for now.
Sea Horse, our Mascot, Miri City Fan.
Then again, as a son of this city, there were lotsa thing that we can be proud of.
Miri City Fan’s Main Arena.
Dewan Suarah. The Community Hall.
Everyone born before the 1990’s grew up here. It houses the Concert Hall and our Town’s Library.
Pustaka Miri.
The Electronic Library, where i have spent most of my time studying for SPM. We were there from day till the very minute they close. Those were the days …

The Miri City Tower 2005.
